5th Annual Graduate Student Symposium, 2014

The 5th Annual MIPSE Graduate Student Symposium took place on October 8, 2014 at the University of Michigan. The symposium included a special seminar by Prof. Gottlieb Oehrlein titled "Low-Temperature Plasma Surface Interactions: Nanoscale Graphitic Film Formation, Atomic Layer Etching and Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet Modification of Biomolecules" which was enjoyed by all. We especially thank Prof. Oehrlein and our MSU colleagues for coming to the symposium.

5th MIPSE Graduate Symposium

We had a total of 38 poster presentations – including presentations by undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. There were 30 presentations by UM students and 8 by MSU students. We thank all of the presenters for their excellent efforts. The Symposium was a great success, enabling our students to share the results of their state-of-the-art research.

The MIPSE judges (Prof. Louise Willingale (UM), Prof. Eric Johnsen (UM), Prof. Rebecca Anthony (MSU)) visited all of the posters and had quite a challenging task in selecting from the many outstanding presentations. The Best Presentation Award winners are:

  • Shreya Nad (MSU/EE)
  • Lois Keller Smith (UM/AOSS)
  • Willow Wan (UM/AOSS)

The winners received a MIPSE mug, award certificate, and a plasma book of their choice.
